In December 2017, Janae P. began experiencing debilitating symptoms from an unknown illness. Janae is 23. By January, she was paralyzed and couldn’t walk. She experienced severe pain in her joints and muscles. Her vision was also affected. Janae eventually learned how to walk again. In the meantime, doctor’s were unsure what to make of her symptoms. They were certain it was an autoimmunity, but did not diagnose her.
I started working with Janae on April 1st. By Week 2, Janae was no longer taking any medications. When we met, she was on all kinds of meds for anxiety, ADHD, and pain- a strange mix of depressants, stimulants, and yes, opioids.
Here’s What Janae Says:
“I feel more in control of my emotions and my body. Going off my medications- this milestone was especially important to me because it was my own choice. I definitely wanted to be done with this after the first 4 weeks but I think it was important that I continued to learn more about bettering myself inside and out.” ~Janae P.
“… My body felt the most pure/clean that it has ever felt and my skin looked and felt really good.” ~Janae P. [about a particular part of the program]
Janae was hesitant about the responsibility it would bring, but decided to walk the healing path anyway. She followed the program I created for her, which stress management techniques, breathing and meditation exercises, foods to support her particular condition, self-care rituals, and so much more! We worked through some of her anxiety issues and she developed an outlook that many years of therapy and harmful prescription medications were unable to provide her with (she’d been going to therapy since childhood!). Her spirits lifted, as she began to put her situation into perspective and gain control of her life. Around this time, doctor’s finally gave her a diagnosis. Janae was told she has an autoimmune disease called, Guillain-Barre syndrome. It affects the nervous system. By the time, she received the diagnosis, she was already well on her way to complete recovery.
It brought me GREAT Joy working with Janae. I’m thankful that she was open and willing to take her own health into her own hands. At first, she had trepidations (her mother kinda forced her into this!). But, before I committed to help her, she affirmed that she was indeed ready to receive her healing. Janae Courageously Walked The Healing Path!
ARE YOU READY TO RECEIVE YOUR HEALING?
Walk The Healing Path … I’ll Be Your Guide
In 1999, I endeavored to form an organization offering wholistic wellness education to low-income mothers. I was already teaching women empowering self-care practices, parenting and homemaking skills. With the organization I dreamt of, we would teach them even more: natural birthing techniques, parenting methods, nutrition, cooking, massage therapy, yoga, floral arrangement, decorating, hospitality, money management, making HempTherapy products, etc...
Although the formation of that organization did not transpire, I continued to facilitate wellness workshops, utilizing my own funds, and soliciting help from friends to teach classes in areas I didn’t cover (like finance). Working with those mothers was truly a joy. My desire to create an organization, enabling me to do that work full-time, grew stronger and stronger. Even though I tucked the vision away for future fulfillment, it kept popping up! The once small vision expanded into a pretty BIG picture. Eventually, it morphed into what I’ve been calling Motha Nature’s Sanctuary. This is what it looks like:
An open space, sitting on 400-acres of land, tucked deep into the woods with many brooks, streams, and creeks of running water. Motha Nature’s Sanctuary operates as an organic farm and farm store; a rental space for hosting events; a natural retreat with guest cottages; a wholistic education facility; and, an elementary school. It’s also a place where young families live rent-free, while learning valuable life skills, as part of a 5-7 year residency and certification program. They work on the farm and at the other facilities on the property. In this sacred space, parents are afforded the priceless opportunity to live, learn, and work inside a nurturing community that prepares them and their children to go out into the world to do great things!
I attended Farm Business School in 2013, wrote a 5-Year Business Plan, and projected the opening of Motha Nature’s Sanctuary for 2018. IT’S 2018 NOW! The sanctuary is not yet a physical place, but … IT WILL BE. … Really Soon! …..
For Now .. Motha Nature’s Sanctuary ..
LET THE HEALING BEGIN!!!
